We're shattered: Family of slain police officer
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The family of a police officer who died after being shot in an apparent domestic dispute says they are shattered.
Thandiwe Mavaneni was shot allegedly by her 26-year-old boyfriend at her home in the Mpumalanga township, west of Durban yesterday morning.
The 33-year-old mother-of-one died later in hospital.
Her sister, Hloniphile Mkholokotho who is also a police officer, says they are trying to come to terms with her death.
She says breaking the news to her nephew was the hardest thing to do.
"This has caused us so much pain. The pain cannot be explained, we don't even know how we feel. She loved her family, she loved her son and she adored our mom."
"We were so close, so this is very hard for us, to see her son crying," she said.
