WATCH: Sadia Sukhraj's father testifies during sentencing

Sadia Sukhraj's father is calling for the harshest possible sentence for the man convicted of her murder.
Shailendra Sukhraj has been testifying in aggravation of sentence in the Durban High Court.

This after Sibonelo Mkhize was convicted on two counts of murder and one of robbery with aggravating circumstances yesterday.
Little Sadia was killed in a botched hijacking in May last year.
Although acknowledging that nothing will bring their daughter back - Sukhraj feels a strong sentence would offer the family some sort of consolation.

"She was intelligent, smart and understanding.As a father, I feel that this child was robbed of the dignity to impact this country in a positive a way. We have lost a real gem," Sukhraj said.
Meanwhile, a victim impact statement from the little girl's mother was also read out in court. Lorraine Sukhraj said she misses her child terribly - and would not wish the pain she's experienced on anyone. She said she relives the nightmare everyday.
