Verulam rape case could be moved to higher court
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The case against a Verulam man accused of raping his 10-year-old stepdaughter could be moved to a regional court.
The 43-year-old man made another appearance via video link in the Verulam Magistrate's Court this morning.
The case is set to get underway again on the 11th of January.
The State told the court previously that the girl is competent enough to testify against the accused.
The rape allegations caused a public outcry earlier this year, when the little girl told a neighbour about the attacks.

The State believes the girl was kept locked in a room and raped repeatedly over a five-year period after her mother died.
The Department of Social Development has since placed the girl in a school. She is being cared for at a place of safety.
