Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A Verulam family is mourning the loss of their nine-year-old son who was hit by a bus while walking to school in rainy weather.
Owami Msimang was run-over by the vehicle yesterday. It was apparently reversing in Redcliffe at the time.
The child's father, Bheki Mdletshe says before the tragedy, his little boy slipped and fell into muddy water.

He says he last spoke to his child in the morning - when Owami asked him for an umbrella before leaving for school.
"Not only our family but the community is saddened by the accident. Owami was my eldest son. My prince had a future waiting for him."
"I'm still very shocked that he is no more. His mother is not coping at all, but she will be okay. I accept that this is God's plan. We cannot blame the bus driver."
Verulam police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
