Gauteng police are investigating the drowning of former Springbok forward Jannie du Plessis’ child in a pool in Krugersdorp.

Gauteng police are investigating the drowning of former Springbok forward Jannie du Plessis’ child in a pool in Krugersdorp.
The child drowned on Tuesday.
“We are investigating a case of inquest after a 10 months-old-baby drowned in a swimming pool while the baby sister was looking after the child, it happened in Krugersdorp yesterday. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the drowning,” says police spokesperson Kay Makhubele.
Lions Rugby Club CEO Rudolf Straeuli confirmed the baby had died at the Du Plessis home and requested the family be given space to mourn.
The drowning happened as the former Springbok prop was celebrating his 39th birthday.
Jannie du Plessis was part of the Springbok team that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
