Traffic stacked on N3 between Van Reenen, Harrismith due to truck protest
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The N3 Toll Concession says the heavy traffic delays on the N3 towards Gauteng is due to a protest.
It's apparently by truck drivers near Montrose in the Free State.
Police there say around 30 protestors used their vehicles to block the route some 20kms outside Harrismith.
The disgruntled drivers want to meet with the Transport Minister to discuss the recruitment of foreign truckers.
"The backlog of traffic is reported to extend between Van Reenen and Harrismith and is causing delays northbound at Tugela Plaza," says the N3 Toll Concession's Thania Dhoogra.
"Law enforcement officials are on scene monitoring the situation closely. Road users are advised to delay travel to this area."
