The Trump, Zuma call: Twitter reacts

A day after the Presidency announced that US President Donald Trump had requested a telephone conversation with President Jacob Zuma - it's been reported that the first official conversation between the two leaders has gone down smoothly. Social media sites have been buzzing with speculation about what was actually discussed by the two heads of state. And we finally know.

In a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday evening, it was reported that President Zuma congratulated President Trump on his election as the 45th president of the United States of America.

The two presidents also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the already strong bilateral relations between the two countries. 

According to the statement, there are 600 US companies in South Africa - further strengthening trade relations between the two countries.

"The two Presidents also discussed the need to work together on multilateral issues as well especially the quest for peace and stability on the African continent," it read.
