Suspect killed in police shootout in Esikhaleni

Police in northern KZN are searching for three robbery suspects after an accomplice was killed in a shootout in Esikhaleni.
Officers say a victim was robbed in Ndindima on Sunday night, and the perpetrators fled the scene.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says police traced and cornered four suspects in the vicinity of Ngcombo.
"At the sight of police blue lights, the suspects opened fire towards the police, triggering a response from the men of law.

One suspect was fatally wounded in the resultant shootout, whilst the other three fled into the bushes. The deceased suspect was found in possession of a .38 special revolver firearm with five rounds of ammunition.
“No police officer was injured during the shootout. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects who escaped arrest is urged to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111."
