Stage two loadshedding set to continue on Monday
Updated | By Newswatch
Rotational power cuts are set to continue on Monday according to Eskom.
The power utility says loadshedding will be reduced to stage one from 11pm tonight to 5am tomorrow but stage two will then begin.
An update on whether power cuts will continue through the week will be provided by Eskom on Monday afternoon.
Eskom opted to institute stage two loadshedding last Thursday after the loss of two generation units at the Kusile Power Station.
Those units remain unavailable after they failed to restart.
Over the past 24-hours, Eskom has successfully returned a generation unit each at the Kriel, Grootvlei and Duvha Power Stations to service.
“Despite Eskom’s stringent measures to manage the impact of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic on operations, we are experiencing some impact on operations, including our suppliers,” an Eskom statement read.
At the Medupi Power Station, Eskom says they’ve had 48 positive COVID-19 cases from a pool of 75 contractors.
