A cold front over the weekend brought with it disruptive snow over the southwestern parts of the province.
By midday on Monday, authorities were forced to begin closing some roads due to the dangerous and slippery conditions.
KZN Transport Department spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane said emergency personnel and the Road Traffic Inspectorate were activated and remain on high alert.

He said alternative routes have been mapped out for some roads while authorities are working to clear others.
"R617 which is linking Howick down to Underberg was affected due to heavy snowfall and there also other parts of the province along Kokstad, Drakensberg areas which have experienced snowfall. This is dangerous as it causes roads to be slippery.”
