SAWS: More heavy rain to come in parts of Northern KZN

SAWS confirms the heavy rain downpours is a result of the tropical depression from storm Eloise.
South African Weather Service forecaster, Wiseman Dlamini, there's an 80% chance of showers and thundershowers in that part of the province
Weather forecaster, Wiseman Dlamini says there will be 80% showers and thundershowers over the northern parts.
"For today we still have two alerts - level 4 for disruptive rain over Zululand District. The municipalities that will be Abaqulusi, eDumbe, Mthonjaneni, Nongoma, Ulundi, uMlalazi and uPhongolo. In terms of impact, we are saying there is a possibility that this rain will cause flooding and poor driving conditions."

In Umkhanyakude District, an Orange L9 warning's been issued for disruptive rain with widespread flooding.

The rain is expected to continue into the evening. The weather service says conditions should improve tomorrow.
Eloise first made landfall in northeastern Madagascar before moving towards the Mozambique Channel where it intensified due to the warm waters.

The storm made landfall near the Mozambican coastal city of Beira on Saturday. It left 12 people injured and seven thousand people displaced.
It moved towards South Africa and eSwatini, dumping heavy rain in parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KZN.
In light of the high risk of widespread flooding of roads and houses, KZN Cogta has, in collaboration with the Departments of Transport and Human Settlements, introduced contingency measures aimed at providing speedy relief to families should the need arise.
