SADTU shocked after Newcastle corporal punishment incident
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) says there needs to be extensive dialogue on the subject of discipline in the classroom.

The teachers' union reacted with shock to the suspension of a Newcastle teacher who allegedly poured hot water on pupils last week.
The six pupils from Siyamukela High School apparently fell asleep during the lesson.
Sadtu's Nomarashiya Caluza says teachers should know better and not turn to any form of corporal punishment.

She says those under stress or dealing with work-related frustration must seek help.
"You find them doing things that tomorrow, they will not be able to justify even themselves.
"They become too emotional and there are emotions in everything they do only to find that, people do things which they cannot be able to justify and defend the following day."
