SA needs strong Cosatu: Zuma
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
President Jacob Zuma says the Congress of South African Trade Unions must rise above the current challenges it is facing.
He had been speaking on the opening day of Cosatu's 12th National Congress in Midrand yesterday.
Zuma said the Tripartite Alliance between the ANC, SACP and Cosatu remains relevant.
He says the workers' federation must continue to act in the interest of workers.
"We call on all affiliate unions of Cosatu to do everything possible to build and defend the unity of Cosatu and make it the fighting force that it has been since its establishment in 1985.
"This congress must ensure that Cosatu emerges from this congress more united and stronger than ever before," he said.
