Stage 2 load shedding to continue over the weekend
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Eskom has announced that stage 2 load shedding will continue throughout the weekend during peak hours.
The power cuts will be implemented from 4pm until midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
The power utility's spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says their capacity constraints have been exacerbated by the delay in returning a generation unit to service each at Koeberg, Kusile and Tutuka power stations.

There's also been unplanned breakdowns at Camden and Medupi power stations.
"We currently have 3 571MW on planned maintenance, while another 15 624MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns,” Mantshantsha says.
"This load shedding will also assist in recovering emergency generation reserves, which have been utilised extensively to meet demand over the last few days."
