Richard Branson celebrates gym's success in Soweto
British businessman Richard Branson is in South Africa to celebrate the success of one of Virgin Active's gyms in Johannesburg.
The Virgin Active RED club branch in Soweto exceeded its membership expectations by 100% since it was opened in July.
Speaking at the event, the billionaire says "the gym hits right at the heart of what fitness should be all about – having a great deal of fun while you’re getting fit. So it’s clear to see why it’s been such a success".
The Jabulani gym is one of seven of its kind country-wide. The ‘gym made easy' consists of all equipment except swimming pools and saunas.
Branson last visited South Africa four years ago for the launch of the Virgin Active Health Club at Maponya Mall in Soweto.
