Rhodes Park murderers to make appearance in court today

The three men on trial for a double murder and rape at Rhodes Park, in Kensington, Johannesburg last year - will return to the Palm Ridge High Court later today.

Thabo Nkala (25), Admore Ndlovu (23) and Mduduzi Mathibela Lawrence (32), face charges of assault, robbery, rape, sexual assault and murder.


They are accused of being part of a 12-man gang that attacked two couples walking in the park on the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2015.


The couples were forced to lie on the ground, and a knife was used to cut-off the underwear of both women.

One was raped, and the other sexually assaulted.


Their partners were told to undress and forced into a nearby lake, where they drowned.


The gang allegedly stole their clothes, jewellery and cell-phones.


Yesterday, the rape survivor took to the stand and gave chilling details of her ordeal. She also testified that her husband's last words were him calling out her name - before he died.


The three accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges.


On Monday the court also heard that a fourth suspect had been arrested in Zimbabwe.
