Retired KZN cop shot dead

Police have launched a manhunt after a retired police officer was shot and killed in Ladysmith.

It's understood the 65-year-old was ambushed in the St Chads area on Monday morning.
Authorities say the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.
In northern KZN, police are also probing a double murder case after two people were killed at their home in Paulpietersburg.

"Police in Paulpietersburg are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which two people aged 41 and 55 years old were allegedly fatally shot on Saturday, 22 February 2025," says provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
"Reports indicate that the male and the female victims were at their place of residence in the Mangosuthu area when they were attacked by unknown people who opened fire, fatally wounding them. The motive for the killing is unknown."
