Ramaphosa admits ANC were 'blindsided' by Gupta family's influence

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the African National Congress (ANC) didn't do enough to stem the influence of the Gupta family when it was brought to the party's attention.
He's spent another day testifying on Thursday at the commission of inquiry into state capture.
Commission chairperson, deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo, listed several occasions when the ANC could have acted.

He told Ramaphosa NEC member Fikile Mbalula has raised the alarm during a committee meeting.
He says the landing of a plane full of Gupta wedding guests at an airforce base was another instance, while the media also carried extensive reports of the family's alleged activities.
Ramaphosa says there was some action, but it didn't go far enough.

"In relation, for instance, to the Gupta family's influence, I think we were blindsided by the fact that this family were friends to the ultimate leader of our party."
