Public violence charges against 41 people arrested in Inchanga - withdrawn
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The National Prosecuting Authority in KZN says charges against 41 people arrested yesterday in Inchanga on public violence charges - have been withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
Violence broke out in the area yesterday, following the murder of SACP member Nsiki Blose on Sunday night.
During the skirmishes, a man believed to be a member of the ANC Youth League, was stoned by community members - before being shot dead.
Meanwhile, the South African Communist Party has this afternoon condemned Blose's murder.
The SACP's Dolly Caluza says they are hoping the perpetrators are brought to book.
"In fact in the beginning of the year we saw Felix Dlamini and the others being killed, and now these two that were killed yesterday and the day before. Still, we commit to engage on these matters. What will keep us in peace is to see these guys not getting bail, because now it's even difficult in that area to have people who can go and even witness because people are being killed."
The party says addressing violent hotspots remains a key issue in putting an end to the killings.
