Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The N2 between Port Shepstone and Paddock was closed to motorists on Monday morning due to protests on both sides.
Zinhle Mgomezulu, who is with the Road Traffic Inspectorate says they can confirm that the demonstrators belong to the taxi industry.
"Traffic has come to a standstill. The reason behind this protest is unknown at this stage and the necessary authorities are on the scene."

Port Shepstone police were also making their way to the N2 near Boboyi.
