Power restored to all areas following Durban blackout: eThekwini

eThekwini says all areas affected by the explosion at the Klaarwater substation, near Chatsworth south of Durban have had their power restored.

Large parts of the municipality were left without lights, affecting residents and businesses for much of the afternoon.

The municipality issued a statement a short while ago saying some areas in Hillcrest and Waterfal, west of the city are still without power, but that is due to a separate issue.
eThekwini says technicians are working to repair that fault.
Officials are urging residents without power, but not in Hillcrest or Waterfall, to check their earth leakage units in case they have tripped.
