Build One SA says the jury is out on whether the government of national unity will be able to deliver on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s ideas.

In his opening of Parliament Address on Thursday, the president outlined three key priorities for the newly constituted government, including inclusive economic growth and job creation.

BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane said he's disappointed that Ramaphosa did not push forward a reform agenda.

"We have solved the politics. That is what a government of national unity is. What we haven't solved is about making sure that the fiscus can sustain it that many of the initiatives that the president has been speaking about actually need to begin to bear fruit. So, ultimately. The test is not whether we have solved the politics or not, the test is going to be whether we can deliver on the programme of action."

IFP leader and Cooperative Governance Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa said dysfunctional municipalities will be turned around.

"The key focus will be to make municipalities stable. Once municipalities are stable they will be able to use every rand and cent to work for the good, to create a conducive environment for investors and business people to invest.

UDM Deputy President Nqabayomzi Kwankwa criticised Ramaphosa's speech for failing to account for the previous administration's achievements or failures.

"It was a statement of intent. What his government, the GNU, doing without giving an account of what happened in the last five years? You'd think, in fact, if you were listening to the speech that president Ramaphosa was not the president of South Africa in the last five years. It is like a completely new administration, and yet the only difference is that it is a coalition."
