Police track down Mooi River farm robbery suspects
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
Eight suspects - aged between 24 and 51 - are due to appear in
court soon following a farm robbery in Mooi River on Thursday.
Five armed suspects apparently arrived at the victim's home in separate vehicles.
KZN police say they entered his home - held the victim at gunpoint - and took jewellery, laptops, a watch, cellphone, firearms and valuables in his safe.
Spokesperson Jay Naicker says they then fled the scene.
He says police spotted the suspects' car on the N3 freeway towards Pietermaritzburg.
“Following a high speed chase the team was able to intercept a vehicle at Camperdown, where five suspects including a female were placed under arrest,” Naicker said.
The suspects were found in possession of five firearms as well as other items belonging to the victim.
“Following further investigation, the team proceeded to KwaMashu where a further three suspects were arrested. A second vehicle as well as six firearms were seized,” Naicker added.
