Police continue to monitor UKZN's Westville campus
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Calm has been restored at UKZN’s Westville Campus following student protests but police are still maintaining a heavy presence on the campus.

Protesting students disrupted lectures this morning.
They are unhappy about a number of things ranging from NSFAS allowances to transport and accommodation.
"Basically what students want is that the bus to be scheduled until 12am so that they can study for a longer period. [We're concerned] about conditions in the off-campus residence.
"You find that there are three students living in one room, sharing but paying an equal amount to a student living in a single accommodation. It's not fair," a UKZN student said.
Seventeen UKZN students were arrested for public violence.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says some of them pelted police with stones. While some police vehicles have also been damaged.
The academic programme at the campus has been suspended today.
