Merewent Community Policing Forum member Clint Leverton says the shooting took place earlier this afternoon.
“The shooting that took place in Silvertree Road happened right near Wentworth Secondary School. It happened at a time that school had just been dismissed,” said Leverton.
“There was a real possibility that a scholar could have been caught up in whatever crossfire happened there.”
Yesterday, a 20-year-old man was shot and wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting in the area.
Another victim was shot and killed while sitting in his yard on Friday.
Wentworth community leader Donovan Anderson told Newswatch earlier that they believe the recent shootings in the area are gang-related.
