PICS: Manhunt after dramatic Durban armed robbery
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A police manhunt has been launched after an armed robbery at a petrol station in Chris Hani Road in Durban North this morning.
Robbers targeted a cash-in transit vehicle at the service station at around 9.30am.
It's understood shots were fired although no serious injuries have been reported.
However, police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says a security guard had to be treated for shock.
Zwane says officers raced to the scene but the gang had already sped off.
"On their arrival, police noticed the two security guards were overpowered and their cash was taken. Suspects had fled the scene.
"There are no arrests made at this stage and police are still tracing the suspects who fled in their own two getaway vehicles," he said.
