PHOTOS: Rare removal of green mamba in Toti
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Local snake handler, Nick Evans has successfully wrapped up another call-out, this time of a green mamba outside an Amanzimtoti home, south of Durban.
A Toti resident alerted Evans after the snake was spotted on the property yesterday. It then curled itself into a wall.
"The snake was described as being over a metre long and as thick as a wrist, green on top and a lighter green underneath. That describes a green mamba perfectly," said an excited Evans.
"It was seen basking on the lawn and went into a hole in a retaining wall. When I got there, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was definitely a green mamba," he continued.
"I reached in with the tongs and pulled it out very gently. When the tail appeared, I grabbed the tail and pulled the whole snake out."

Evans says the female appeared to be ready to lay eggs.
Green mambas are found in foliage along the KwaZulu-Natal coast but are not known to venture inland.
