Pappas: Efforts continue to clean up municipality

uMngeni Municipality has
announced it will be undertaking a number of measures in order to bring about
accountability.
Mayor Chris Pappas held a briefing recently where he detailed a number of issues his municipality was dealing with along with findings of investigations.
Among others were the overpricing and unfair selection of service providers, failure to due undertake the process awarding of contracts and contractors paid when no work was done.
Pappas says their initiative is already delivering results.

"The uMngeni Municipality held a press briefing to update the public and media on the various steps and measures we've been taking to identify and eradicate corruption and maladministration within the municipality.
"A number of investigations have been concluded and a number of municipal officials have left the municipality as a result of this.
"We will continue our efforts to clean up the municipality and restore public confidence so that we ensure that there is value for money spending and the service delivery remains the forefront of everything we do."
