A group of residents from Newlands West in Durban has held a protest over the kidnapping of a local teenager who's been missing for over a month now.

17-year-old Mmeli Ngcobo was taken from outside his school in late February.
Police say three people were seen forcing the boy into a car before driving off with him.

A 20-year-old suspect was soon arrested and charged with kidnapping.
He's out on bail and will be back in court later this month.
Some community members this morning demanded to know what was happening with the investigation.

Police say the station commander of the local police station addressed them and they later dispersed.
Mmeli's father, Prince Ngcobo says it's sad that the community has to go to extreme lengths for there to be movement in the case.
"It is not supposed to be like this, but it's sad because there are some people that don't do the work."
On the protest, he said: "It means a lot to me because it means they care for the kids as well because someone is going to come and kidnap somebody's kid and nothing will happen, like my son."
"I'm sure someone is going to be held accountable for this."
