LISTEN: N2 crash victim's family says justice delayed after postponement
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The family members of a Durban woman who was killed in a road crash last year have described the back to back postponement of sentencing proceedings in the case against the driver as emotionally draining.
Devashen Naidoo was behind the wheel of the car that smashed into the back of a truck on the N2 near Umgababa last year, killing 22-year-old Sonali Sewbran.
Sewbran was nine months pregnant.
Sentencing proceedings against Naidoo, who pleaded guilty to charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as culpable homicide, were put on hold when the power went out in court.
Sewbran's mother, Shireen says all they want is closure.
"Every time we have to come to court and there's a postponement. This is the second time where there is no electricity. We just want justice as this is becoming too emotionally draining for the entire family," she said.
