Officials expect more than 2 000 vehicles per hour along the N3 Toll Route during the peak periods.

Motorists are likely to experience congestion and possible delays on this route between Wednesday and Friday.

Motorists are urged to plan their routes in advance.

The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) says it will continue to closely monitor traffic patterns, including all incidents and crashes along the route in the coming weeks.

“Careful planning helps to avoid a last minute rush, taking unnecessary risks, and late night driving,” says N3TC’s Operations Manager, Thania Dhoogra.

“As a further safety measure, N3TC recommends that road users rather travel during the day than at night. Although there are marginally fewer crashes at night, these crashes tend to be far more severe,” adds Dhoogra.

Since the start of the festive season last week, major routes have already seen an influx of vehicles.

Several tragic crashes have also been reported in parts of the country, including the Free State, KZN, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape.
