Tania Zungu’s mother Gwen Msane spoke to Newswatch on the pain of losing her daughter.

"I want justice for Tania. I want justice for Tania because she couldn't fight for herself.

"I want her children to grow up knowing their mother loved them. I want them to know that their mother received justice because she couldn't take revenge.

"She died brutally."

Tania Zungu was shot and killed at the couple’s home on Tyrone Road last week.

At the time, police said it was understood that the couple had been arguing on the day of the shooting.

Msane says she was with her daughter on that day.

"I was at the house. On the 31st of December, she fetched me so we could celebrate New Year's Eve together; she was so excited because she was in China for Christmas, and we were so happy until tragedy struck."

Her husband, Lwanda Zungu, who is also a member of the SANDF, handed himself over to the police on Friday.

The 37-year-old appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Msane says she didn't attend court.

"I wasn't feeling well. Ever since this happened in front of my eyes, I'm not okay. I have headaches, and I can still hear the screams.”
