MK heads to ConCourt over first National Assembly sitting

The uMkhonto weSizwe party says it's filing papers with the Constitutional Court in a bid to prevent the first sitting of the seventh democratic Parliament.

The party, led by former president Jacob Zuma, claims the Independent Electoral Commission rigged the 2024 elections in favour of the ANC.
Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela believes Parliament can't have its first sitting without the MK party, which secured 58 seats.
“We have grievances with the IEC that were not taken into consideration, and we see the sitting of the National Assembly as illegal."
“There must be a composition of Parliament members."
He alleges that if the elections hadn't been rigged, MK would have won instead of garnering the third-most votes.
Ndhlela says they're calling for fresh polls.
"There were votes that were found in the field, in the water, and in certain places, which were strange. It’s a clear indication that a recount would not yield true results."
