Meats looted at Hammarsdale warehouse not fit for consumption, eThekwini warns

Meat and poultry products that were looted from a warehouse in Hammarsdale are not fit for human consumption.

eThekwini officials who carried out environmental health inspections at the facility this week have issued that warning. 


The municipality found that products kept at the Sequence cold storage warehouse could potentially be unsafe.

Communications deputy head Mandla Nsele said: "There perishable meats and poultry products were not being stored in correct temperature. 


"Perishable food stored in the wrong temperature may develop bacteria, so they are not proper for consumption even after proper preparations. 


"The public is therefore advised urgently dispose of all these products in a refuse bin."
