Makhosi Khoza a no-show for hearing
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The ANC in KZN says outspoken MP, Makhosi Khoza, has not showed up for her disciplinary hearing in Durban today.
The party says Khoza opted to send a representative to answer questions on her behalf. Khoza grabbed the headlines in recent months following her public criticism of President Jacob and her calls for him to step down. She also said she voted with the opposition in the recent Motion of Confidence in Zuma.
The ANC's Mdusmiseni Ntuli says Khoza's representative will reply to questions on her behalf.
"There were a variety of clauses contained in the party's constitution that were given to her when she was charged. The essence of it is that her conduct and public posture were undermining the standing of the organisation," he said.
Ntuli says for now they choose not to read too much into her absence.
"We do not want to speculate whether her absence is informed by her desire to undermine the ANC or whether there were circumstances that constrained her presence. Once we know the outcome of the discussion between the two parties we would be better placed to make our own judgement," Ntuli said.
Khoza posted on her Facebook page yesterday that she had been informed today's hearing would take place at 9am. She claims she was originally informed it would be held at 3pm.
