KZN spokesperson for the Department of Education, Muzi Mahlambi, says pupils were made aware that load shedding could happen at any time.
He says invigilators were also prepared for the power interruptions and brought in back-up generators.
With stage 2 load shedding continuing until 11pm on Thursday, Mahlambi says contingency plans have been put in place for those writing IT today.
