Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A financial educator believes foot traffic in stores and malls will be lower on Black Friday this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and more people turning to online shopping.
South Africa's observed a spike in coronavirus infections, with over 1200 cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
Commenting on the annual shopping spree, Old Mutual's John Manyike says more and more shoppers are choosing to make purchases online for safety reasons.
It's reported that over 95 million people did their Black Friday buying online last year.
"Online sales are certainly on the up and I think this was the case be cause a lot of people feel more comfortable shopping online especially given the threat of the pandemic, social distancing.
"Certainly, we have seen a huge jump in general sales online, people are becoming more and more comfortable with shopping online."
Meanwhile, some East Coasters have shared what they are looking forward to on Friday.
