At least 30 informal homes destroyed in Durban fire

At least 30 informal homes have been destroyed when a fire broke out at an informal settlement in the Kenville area in Durban.

The blaze broke out last night, leaving many families homeless. It is still not clear how the fire began and what caused it to spread.
According to Netcare 911's Athlenda Mathe it took fire fighters some time to put out the blaze.
"No injuries or fatalities have been reported and the cause of the blaze is not yet known. We can confirm that it took firefighters at least 2 hours to put out the fire," she said.
"Those that have been left homeless have been accommodated at a local community hall," Mathe said.
