KZN wildfires claim seven lives

KZN Disaster Management has confirmed that five more people have been killed in wildfires that ravaged parts of the province this week.

It brings the death toll to 12.
The King Cetshwayo, Ilembe, uThukela, Nkandla, Umlalazi and Zululand Districts have been severely affected.
It's after the SA Weather Service issued warnings for high fire danger conditions and extreme winds on Monday.

KZN Cogta's Senzo Mzila says the youngest person who was killed is a two-year-old boy from Ulundi.
"Six of the victims perished in their homes when they were overcome by the raging wildfires, the seventh passed away because of a structural fire at the Masinenge informal settlement under the Ray Nkonyeni local municipality
The MEC for Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has assigned disaster management teams to provide support to the affected families."
