KZN premier 'not going anywhere anytime soon' – analyst
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A political analyst says it remains to be seen whether there will be any adjustments in the KwaZulu-Natal premier's office.
Sihle Zikalala's hopes of retaining his position as KZN ANC chair were dashed over the weekend when Siboniso Duma won the vote.
The new provincial party leader has promised there'll be no purging of the outgoing leadership.
Analyst Imraan Buccus says, given that assurance, he doesn't see Zikalala going anywhere anytime soon.
"I think quite clearly we now have two centers of power with premier Sihle Zikalala on the one hand and chairperson of the ANC Siboniso Duma on the other.
"But we also need to remember that a premier serves at the behest of the president and I don't think Ramahosa is going to be in any sort of hurry to move Sihle Zikalala, despite the fact that there will obviously be a great deal of pressure from the province."

Buccus says Duma also demonstrated maturity in his handling of a somewhat tense situation on Sunday when some delegates booed President Cyril Ramaphosa.
"He certainly did well to hold things together. I think this is very much an indication of his prior political training and generally an indication of a new generation of leadership that has potential that people may have overlooked.
"He did really well to hold it together for Ramaphosa and I think it was also an indication of his leadership. He needed to stamp his authority."
