KZN motorist hurt in Shaka's Head protest ready to leave hospital

A KZN motorist hurt in a rock throwing attack in Shaka's Head earlier this year will be coming home this week.
27-year-old Sashni Daniel suffered serious injuries during the ordeal in February.
Daniel had been driving on the R102 when a group of protesters allegedly threw bricks at her car.
One of the bricks smashed through the windscreen and hit Daniel on the head - leaving her with a severe injury.
She's been in hospital since - on and off life support - and has undergone several surgeries.
Her father, Kovi says she is now awake and is expected to be discharged soon.
"She will still undergo speech and occupational therapy. In terms of brain surgery - all is clear. She can recognise her family and her friends. It's just sad that she is still bed bound. I'm sure that will come right with time," he said.

He says his daughter does not remember much of the incident.
"She doesn't remember much of the incident. She knows that she was in an accident. Her spirits are high and she is waiting to get back home to be with her family. We will then take it from there," Daniel said.
