A suspected murderer and extortionist in KwaZulu-Natal has been captured after nearly five years on the run.

Linda Hlonga also known as 'Mjinja' or 'Putin', was nabbed in Midrand in Gauteng on Tuesday.
He has been on KZN's most wanted list after he failed to appear in court on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says 'Putin' is also linked to the murder of his girlfriend and her mother.

They were shot in Pinetown last month.
"‘Mjinja’ is believed to have been extorting money from scholar transport owners, tuckshop owners, and local taxis in the areas of Mariannhill and the nearby townships.
"Police in KwaZulu-Natal are thankful to community members who provided valuable information which led to the arrest of ‘Mjinja’, the self-proclaimed lion. Anyone who fell victim [to] ‘Mjinja’ is urged to go to the nearest police station and open a case so that justice can be served."
