KZN mortuary employees' go-slow enters third week
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
The DA in KZN is warning of an imminent crisis with a go-slow at the State mortuary continuing into its third week.
The party's Imraan Keeka says the province is heading for disaster unless the MEC acts now.
The bodies of five people killed in a horror crash on Queen Nandi Drive this week had to be loaded into the back of a police van and driven to the morgue because a mortuary vehicle was not available.
Keeka says the situation could escalate over the Easter period - a busy time for emergency services.
"It's unacceptable that nothing is being done and we expect that over the Easter period - it might even intensify when we know road fatalities increase over that period," Keeka said.

Meanwhile, KZN Health says it is very concerned about the ongoing strike action. It says contingency plans though are in place to mitigate the impact of the go-slow.Show's Stories
