KZN legislature set to fork out R1m for Sopa
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The KwaZulu-Natal legislature is planning on spending around R1 million on the State of the Province Address.

Speaker Nontembeko Boyce gave a briefing on Tuesday on their readiness for Thursday's event at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.
"We are constantly looking at avenues and interventions to reduce the cost. We are proud to indicate that this year we anticipate the cost to be around R1 million.
"These costs entail all the infrastructure set up, audio-visuals, media buying and travelling for those members who will physically attend at the legislature."

Boyce says it will be a hybrid event, with not more than 1 000 people expected at the showgrounds on the day.
She says a number of issues will be highlighted.
"The Sopa amongst other is excepted to focus on some priorities including employment creation and jobs security in the province, security of water supply, building safer communities, social cohesion and moral regeneration."
