Updated | By Bulletin
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli says the recent fires in the province have caused over R30 million in losses.

Ntuli visited the Kenville Informal Settlement in Durban North on Tuesday, where a blaze has destroyed over 200 homes and killed a pregnant woman.
Another fire in the Midlands has claimed the lives of six firefighters.
They were part of a crew trying to fight the inferno at Stirling Farm, believed to have been started by animal poachers.

Ntuli is hoping a state of disaster will be declared over the fires.
He has also called for collaboration to prevent future fires.
"We need to make people aware of the extent to which veld fires can damage livestock, properties, agricultural resources, and human life. They have already started providing temporary shelters."
