The KZN Education Department has confirmed that 20 schools were either damaged or destroyed after a tornado tore through the north coast.
A Wedge tornado moved through Tongaat, Seatides and Magwaveni amongst others on Monday.
Eleven people were killed during severe storms that hit KZN, seven of them in Tongaat.
The department's spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi says 56 mobile classrooms have been provided to affected schools in the area.

Mahlambi says the Seatides Combined School was the worst hit.
"That has led to the department moving grades 10, 11 and 12 to Anton Lembe so that they can proceed with their examinations we are continuing to monitor the situation and engage the affected district."
Meanwhile, families in Tongaat are still piecing back their lives in the wake on Monday afternoon’s devastating storm. Newswatch has been visiting affected areas. An emotional resident told Newswatch her sister and niece were hospitalised after their house crumbled around them. Listen below.
Meanwhile, East Coast Radio's raised half a million rand in aid for those affected by the tornado. The Breakfast Team hosted a donation drive at the Vishwaroop Temple on Friday morning.
ECR's Thobekile Honono says they partnered with the Gift of the Givers.
"We just want to do something impactful or something meaningful for the families...We've seen generous people of Tongaat and surroundings coming to the temple; dropping off donations; some made cash payments. We really appreciate your help.”
