KZN Education launches probe into protest-hit KwaMgaga High

KZN Education has launched an investigation into the KwaMgaga High School in uMlazi, south of Durban.

A group of parents caused disruptions at the school on Wednesday, complaining over what they perceive to be the unfair the promotion of some pupils.
The parents want the school to adopt a ‘pass-one pass-all’ model.
The Department of Education in KZN says the majority of the teachers at the school were afraid to report for duty for the first day of school after their vehicles were pelted with stones on Tuesday.
Education MEC Mbali Frazer says the department cannot implement such a model.
“We understand the problem was with the parents, who wanted all their learners to begin and ‘pass-one pass-all’. Unfortunately, there is nothing like that.
“What we will do as a department, there is an investigation going on where will check everything, starting with the marking up to the issuing of reports. We are dealing with that matter.”
