KZN drops to just 11 clean municipal audits

Co-operative Governance MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube has warned senior officials in poor performing municipalities there will be harsh consequences if they don't turn their situations around.
It's in response to the municipal audit report for the 2015/2016 financial year - which shows KZN municipalities only achieved 11 municipal clean audits.
It's down from the previous financial year's 22 clean audits.

Yesterday, Dube-Ncube met with the mayors, councillors and municipal managers of six of the province's poor performing municipalities - which include Msunduzi , Mooi Mpofana as well as the uMkhanyakude and Amajuba district municipalities.
"We are indeed very disappointed with the regression we are experiencing as KwaZulu-Natal. We are saying they have to take full responsibility. All we are asking for is clean, good governance and for us to fight corruption, laziness and take responsibility for the performance of our municipalities," she said.
