The latest crime statistics show a slight drop in reported cases of murder.
The Police Ministry presented the report for the period between July and September in Parliament on Friday.
Norman Sekhukhune, who is the head of crime research at SAPS, said the stats indicate a decrease of 0.8 of a percentage point in murder cases, bringing the figure to 6945.

He says Delft in the Western Cape is now regarded as the country's murder capital - a title previously held by KwaZulu-Natal.
Sekhukhune says the greatest number of cases in the province was opened in Umlazi - with arguments, misunderstandings, and road rage the primary causes.
"The province which recorded the highest number of arguments and misunderstanding that led to murder was the province of KwaZulu natal, which indicated that 274 of the murders were as a result of the arguments and misunderstanding."
