KZN Community Safety Dept calls for swift arrest in protester's death

Local government's called for swift police action to track down those who killed a protester in Umzimkhulu.
During service delivery demonstrations last week, protesters barricaded roads by burning tyres.
Gunshots were then fired during an altercation with taxi drivers and two men were wounded.
One of them died in hospital, Mluleko Mntungwa is with the KZN Department of Community Safety and Liaison.
"We have instructed police to work around the clock to ensure that those who are implicated in the murder of a community member during the protest are brought to book. Police have also been increased in the area to ensure that there's peace and stability."

Mntungwa has meanwhile urged people who wish to air their concerns, to refrain from engaging in violent protest action.
